March 26th 2020 – save the date – Air Max Day – it’s the celebration off all things Air Max. The Air Max was first introduced by Nike in 1978, over 40 years ago. Since its inception, Air Max has gone on to become arguably the most celebrated and recognisable sneaker of all time.
With new styles being built and retro icons making their comeback, Nike’s archives are packed with Air Max silhouettes including the likes of the Air Max 720, the Air Max 97, the VaporMax and more. In full family sizing, it’s not an overstatement to say these trainers are a cultural phenomenon. How many other sneakers out there have an anniversary dedicated to them?
What’s New So Far in 2020?
There’s all new silhouette dropping on Air Max Day itself; the hotly anticipated Air Max 2090. But already this year Nike has been busy dropping new colourways of the Air Max 90 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the trainer– including grey & turquoise, and grey & vault yellow.
Elsewhere, the industrial-looking MX 720-818 silhouette landed in mid-February and has a look somewhere between Blade Runner and The Terminator.
Want to add some extra bounce to your step? The Air VaporMax 360 trainer sits on a huge, exaggerated Air unit and new silhouettes have dropped in a petrol-like black colourway with iridescent detailing as well as a sleek white and silver addition.
